Here’s my prayer tonight as I think and prepare for tomorrow…
Father, I know you will do wonderful and amazing things in the lives of people who walk into this place. Hear our humble, human efforts to serve you, to put forward our best effort for your credit, not ours. Through all of the last preparation, the frantic sound checks, even frustration, would you see our heart–not for our own gain, but for yours. Would you do something wonderful here? We give you all we have, our time, our talents, our artistry and every ounce of our energy. May amazing things happen here. May your name be honored in all that we do. Touch people, grab their hearts today. Lead the tired, worn out, life isn’t enough, can’t get ahead, sidetracked, broken to our door. Allow us the privilage of honoring you through serving “the least of these.” It’s not about us, it’s all about you. Lead us, guide us in your plan for today.
Well, here it goes, the journey begins. This weekend is my official “first” weekend overseeing production for Xroads’ G’Town campus. In many ways, this is a culmination of many things God has been working molding in my family’s life. We left a fairly good job (although not a great lifestyle) in Nashville, TN to return back to our roots in Lexington. In short, we missed home–in every sense of the word. We’re happy to be back. Of course, there are some challenges, but we’re happy to be back. After reconnecting with many of my friends at Xroads, God presented our family with a very unique opportunity. We’ve felt for several months (really since our 8 hour drive back from Nashville) a call, pull, conviction–whatever-the-word is to serve as a family in the local church. I’ve experienced some very personal, emotional encounters with God on the matter, as has my loving wife Melissa. After much prayer, we accepted the invitation to serve in G’Town. We feel it’s an opportunity to respond, to put actions with words to what God has stirred up in us. I have no idea where this goes, what comes next of what He wants to do….but we’re in.
